EONZ, together with the New Zealand Association for Environmental Education (NZAEE) and the New Zealand Mountain Safety Council (MSC) are administering two initiatives supporting education outside the classroom (EOTC). Funding provided by Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC) will see completion of the two initiatives as a joint project in 2012.
This is important professional learning development for school management teams, EOTC cordinators, TIC's and HOD's of outdoor education and physical education, sports coordinators and classroom teachers. It is also highly relevant to providers of EOTC and outdoor education programmes and experiences to schools.
Initiative 1: A two-workshop series called EOTC Guidelines - Bringing the Curriculum Alive
Workshop 1 explores how the Ministry of Education (2009) document, EOTC Guidelines, Bringing the Curriculum Alive, can support you to provide EOTC opportunities for your students. The workshop activities are designed to generate discussion in your workplace that will help you to deliver relevant learning opportunities safely for your students.
Workshop 2 examines current best practice and utilises the newly completed on-line resource that comprises Initiative 2.
Initiative 2: On-line resources for Outdoor Education and EOTC
This comprehensive resource will be freely available on line from early 2012.
