Good Practice Guide Consultation

There are a large number of activities that fall below the threshold of the Health and Safety at Work (Adventure Activities) Regulations (2016) and therefore don’t have Activity Safety Guidelines. The Good Practice Guidelines project aims to support leaders so they can deliver consistently high quality, safe experiences for their participants.

The Good Practice Guidelines project has produced DRAFT guidelines for Overnight camping, Flatwater floating and paddling, and Inland waterway swimming activities. We would really value your input to ensure we make the template and information in it as useful as possible.

See the downloadable Word documents below:

Overnight camping - Part A, which contains non-editable guidance, and Part B, which is editable and to be modified for the specific event (location, participants, supervisors etc).  DOWNLOAD

Flatwater floating and paddling - Part A and B

Inland waterways swimming activities - Part A and B

Editable Generic emergency response guide This will sit alongside the Good Practice Guidelines

There are 2 ways to provide feedback:

  • Via a Google survey form  linked here, or
  • through tracked changes on the documents which can be sent to either of the contact people below.
