EONZ recognises that education outside the classroom is a significant dimension of New Zealand education. This award recognises excellence in pedagogy where quality and innovation are evidenced, and effective curriculum-based teaching extends learning beyond the classroom walls.
This Award is open to all pre-school, primary, intermediate and secondary schools and tertiary institutions across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Nominations for 2019 are currently being invited and remain open until Friday 11 October.
The award recipient for 2019 will be announced in November.
EONZ measures the quality of EOTC through the following principles:
Kristin School, from Albany, Auckland, for its senior school outdoor education programmes.
A further two schools, Shirley Boy's High School, in Christchurch, and John Paul College, in Rotorua, were highly commended.
